The full school year consists of approximately 36 lessons beginning in mid-September and ending in mid-June. In most cases, no lessons will be taught during public school Christmas Break and Spring Break periods or on statutory holidays. These dates are not normally included in the lesson schedule or on your invoice. Some faculty members may request a revised schedule. You will be invoiced according to the lessons scheduled for that faculty member. Please note that teachers still teach on public school teacher professional development days.

When a student registers they are effectively reserving the teacher’s time. If a student is absent, with or without notice, the teacher will be paid for this lesson time. The school is under no obligation to provide refunds or make-up lessons, unless the teacher canceled the lesson. Any exceptions to this policy are at the discretion of the teacher. The Music School reserves the right to discontinue the lessons of any student who is consistently late or absent. If the teacher is absent, with or without notice, the student’s lesson must be made up or the student will receive a refund in June. Please notify the teacher or the administration office as soon as possible if unable to attend a lesson.
Note: There are no refunds on group classes.
Students who find it necessary to withdraw from private lessons are required to provide written notice to the school office 14 days prior to the date of the last lesson. Notice given to the teacher will not be considered official written notice. The notice period must be during the school year, not during Christmas or Spring Break. The 14-day notice policy applies even if the student intends to withdraw immediately. The student will be charged for 2 more lessons and may choose to attend those lessons or not. Post-dated cheques or the balance of lesson fees will be returned. No refunds will be granted for private instruction without 14 days prior notice.
Written notice of cancellation must be provided at least 30 days in advance to the office. Notice given to the teacher will not be considered official written notice. Fees for lessons during the 30 day notice period will be charged whether you attend the lessons or not. Post-dated cheques for the balance of the year will be returned to you.
